Rently is a full-cycle property management platform that connects landlords and tenants in one place, handling everything from listing properties and onboarding tenants to collecting rent, generating tenancy agreements, and issuing formal notices. The client needed a professional, automated alternative to the spreadsheets and manual follow-ups that most independent landlords rely on.

The platform delivers dedicated portals for both landlords and tenants. Landlords can build detailed fee structures, configure instalment payment plans, auto-generate PDF agreements with e-signatures, send bulk notices, and receive daily digest summaries of overdue tenants and upcoming renewals. Tenants access their portal via a secure magic link and OTP: no password required where they can log payments, upload proof, sign agreements, and chat with their landlord in real time.

Core engineering challenges included building a robust Payment Advice system that accurately distributes payments across multiple fee items, automating the full tenancy renewal lifecycle via daily cron jobs, and producing pixel-perfect branded PDF receipts and agreements via PDFShift. Paystack was integrated for subscription billing. The result is a platform that makes every landlord interaction: from first rent to final notice, fully documented, automated, and professional.
